Jim Williams

Harlequin Teamwear Icon
  • Nationality: Welsh
  • Date of Birth: 27 July 1984

Jim burst into the spotlight in 2012 when he reached the Quarter Finals of the Winmau World Masters broadcast on ESPN, since then he has gone on to have a brilliant year in the BDO, reaching the final of the Scottish Open, the Semi Final stage of the 2013 German Open, Polish Open and Romanian Open, as well as making the Quarter Finals of the Hungarian Open, England Masters, and Antwerp Open.

Jim's impressive debut season on the BDO tour was topped off when he qualified for the 2014 Lakeside World Championships, to be shown on BBC, having finished Mens World Number 16. Having exited in the first round, the next major on the calendar was the 2014 BDO World Darts Trophy at Blackpool Tower – having had his appendix removed that very week, Jim went on to beat Scott Waites 6-5 in the first round, before exiting to Alan Norris in the Last 16.

In May 2015, Jim reached the BULLS German Open Final, narrowly losing out to Wesley Harms. Two months later the Welshman made it to another final, where he was crowned 2015 English National Singles Champion. Jim's fine form continued, seeing him pick up his second victory of the year when he became the 2015 Antwerp Open Champion in Belgium.

As a crucial part of the Welsh National Team, Jim attended the 2015 Turkish Open, which he went on to win, before representing his country where he was crowned the 2015 World Cup Singles Champion, defeating fellow Harlequin Icon Ross Montgomery in the final. Jim has qualified for the 2016 Lakeside World Championships as a Top 10 seed in the BDO, and will face tournament ever-present, Tony O’Shea in the 1st Round of the competition on the opening Saturday.
